In Fall 2022, I worked as a Stitcher in the costume shop, where I gained diverse construction experience. One of my most complex builds was the Half Tail Coat Corselet for Bobby in the production of Cabaret. Designed as a playful counterpart to a piece worn by Vincent, the garment required efficient pattern cutting and the use of heavy canvas to create structure without traditional boning. After completing and fitting the mock-up, I constructed the final piece by stitching thick canvas with the lining fabric, carefully following multiple stitch lines. The most challenging part was managing the bulk and precision required when sewing through the dense materials. Once the coattails, closures, decorative aqua buttons, and functional fasteners were added, several fittings finalized the garment. The finished piece was both technically demanding and incredibly rewarding to complete.
