- why I teach -

Growing up, access to arts education and creative mentorship was limited in my community. Later exposure to theatre, design, and collaborative creative spaces showed me how transformative the arts can be—artistically, personally, and professionally.

As an educator, I believe creative learning should be accessible, culturally responsive, and community-centered. Through hands-on arts instruction, interdisciplinary learning, and mentorship, I strive to help young people build confidence, curiosity, problem-solving skills, and self-expression while discovering new possibilities for themselves inside and outside the classroom.

Jubilee Park and Community Summer Camp 2024

- General Arts Co-Instructor -

In the summer of 2023, I worked alongside co-teacher and local artist Judy Gass to develop an arts curriculum for the summer camp at Jubilee Park & Community Center. Together, we organized art lessons and creative activities while inviting local and visiting artists to lead workshops in their respective mediums, exposing students to working arts professionals and new creative practices.

At the conclusion of the program, we hosted an on-site student gallery exhibition where families and community members were invited to celebrate and appreciate the students’ work.

In the summer of 2024, I served as the Scenic Design Instructor for Bishop Arts Theatre Center Summer Camp. Students collaborated to create scenic designs for the camp’s devised production, developing mood boards, renderings, and constructing a set made primarily from recycled cardboard and found materials.

It was my first scenic instruction role after completing Scenic Design I in college, and the experience deepened my passion for arts education, collaboration, and hands-on creative learning.

Urban Arts Collective Summer Camp 2025

- Costumes Instructor -

In the summer of 2025, I served as the Costume Design & Technology Instructor for Urban Arts Center Dallas Summer Camp. Students collaborated on costume designs for the production of Once on This Island Jr., while learning hands-on tailoring and sewing techniques, including hand stitching, machine sewing, and assisting with costume alterations.

Within just three weeks, students worked together like young professionals to help bring the production to life, gaining both technical skills and real-world theatrical production experience.

Greenhill School 2026

- Costumes Instructor -

From January–March 2026, I served as the Costume Design & Technology Instructor and Costume Designer for The 39 Steps at Greenhill School. Students collaborated on costume designs while learning hands-on tailoring and sewing techniques, including hand stitching, machine sewing, and costume alterations.

The production emphasized quick transformations, bold silhouettes, and comedic storytelling, while giving students practical experience in the costume design process within a collaborative educational environment.

Mission Statement

Living Theories Collective exists to expand access to arts education, STEAM learning, and creative mentorship through community-centered programming that empowers youth, educators, and emerging artists.

My experiences as an educator, designer, and mentor ultimately led to the founding of Living Theories Collective, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to arts education, STEAM learning, and interdisciplinary creative opportunities for youth and communities.

Through years of working in classrooms, theatres, after-school programs, and community spaces, I recognized the growing need for accessible arts programming, stronger educational resources, and culturally responsive creative learning environments.

Living Theories Collective was created to continue that work on a larger scale through partnerships, educational programming, community initiatives, and emerging tools like Curio Crates.
