Early in my costume design journey, I created a conceptual design series for The Light Princess that explored each character’s emotional arc through a single symbolic costume look. King Darius was designed in a light gold hooded tunic to reflect his internal conflict and transformation, while King Ignacio’s dark, militaristic silhouette with armored elements and obscured eyes represented his tyranny and eventual downfall. In contrast, Althea’s flowing gold dress embodied grace and ethereal beauty, and Prince Digby’s muted, practical attire captured his somber disposition and gradual evolution throughout the story.
